You know you really have a great passion for art when in your office you just can’t stop thinking about going home and painting. You’re thinking, instead of being in this boring meeting, you could be at home trying to finish your masterpiece. In reality, if you’re not willing to sacrifice your stable job and move on to a very risky career, you can still practice painting while working. Just avoid being caught or you might get fired and be forced to earn money out of your paintings.
This article will tell you how you can be able to practice or develop your artistic self more while working. 1. Inspire yourself at the office. When you go home you will be able to know exactly what kind of painting you would really love to do. By being able to inspire yourself at work, you’ll be more eager to go home and start painting. By looking at those pictures, you will also learn from them the proper color and detail. Try to sneak in little tid bits of art that will inspire. Just don’t bring in a portrait sized picture of a Van Gogh painting. 2. Doodling is a great way to express yourself. Because doodling is really an artistic way to express yourself while your mind is occupied. While in a meeting or not doing anything while stuck in your office, you can grab a pen and paper and just doodle. 3. If you’re afraid to attract attention when you are doodling you can practice the scale of tones. Use a pencil to practice the different grades of tones. See how many tones you can make from dark to light tones. Tip: Draw a series of blocks to create the individual tones. 4. Think about the spaces that are between objects that are part of it or around it. These spaces are called negative spaces. I.e., the hole on the coffee mug’s handles. These spaces are very useful because when drawing a painting with difficult subjects, such as drawing the negative spaces first, you can build a strong basic form on which you can work on further. 5. You can practice contour drawing. Contour drawing is not looking at your pen and paper while you are drawing. Look around your office and draw whatever you see. You’ll be surprised at the result of your drawing. It might even give you a few laughs. 6. Identify the colors you see around you. Associate the colors you see around you with the pigments that you can see on the palettes. 7. Be imaginative, you can paint in your mind. By doing these things, you can be able to develop you’re painting skills more. Instead of feeling that you have created a great work of art, you can have more time to practice and be sure that you have created a piece of art.
