Painting is a great way to relax. Especially for people who are gifted with talents in painting. Some people rely to paint with numbers just to be able to finish a portrait. The three types of basic paint that the artist uses are dry or fixed oils, essential oils and resins and balsams. They may decide to create their own paint so that they can be able to suit t for their own purpose or painting style.

There are many advantages in making your own paint. The materials needed are easily obtainable, the process is easy, and it is also cheaper. Paint may be prepared in small quantities with a pallet knife only. It is better to be prepared with a ground muller and glass slab. Some paints or substances need added inert pigments to make it more consistent. Every kind of substance has got different pigmentation properties. All colors become more appreciated when prepared with an added substance.

A paint that is freshly prepared can last week on a palette, but properties will suffer. Linseed oil is the medium that is most commonly used with other ground elements. The paint that one has made can be stored in metal tubes sold in art supplies shop. The qualities will suffer unless preservatives, stiffeners and fillers are added.
