Choose Your Photograph
The next step is where decide which photograph you wish
to have our professional artists transfer to a high quality
hand crafted oil painting or charcoal work of art.
Here are a few tips on selecting the right photograph.
Our artists use their own skills as master craftsmen
to create your treasure. They do not use projection systems
or tracing paper as some other services do. Therefore
the higher quality photograph you select the better your
results will be. A professional studio photograph will
provide the best results and make a beautiful portrait.
Some important details that must be visible in the photograph
are eye color, hair length, color, and style, any other
distinguishing marks such as facial hair, beauty marks,
birth marks, and the like.
Our artists can make changes for you but it must be very
specific. For example you might want a scar removed or
a portrait with braces removed or even changing the clothes
on a person. We can have a person from one picture and
a person from another picture put together. Imagine an
oil painting with three or even four generations posing
together.

Some things we can not do are change the facial pose
of a person or orientation. That is if the picture depicts
a profile image we can not paint the person facing forward.
We have had spectacular results from low quality photographs
(in fact we have had beautiful portraits created from
a wallet size photographs and color reproductions from
old black and white photographs) however for the best
results you need to provide high quality starting images.
Choose Your Details
This step is where you determine what size canvas you
desire. Also what orientation of portrait you wish. One
person or a couple is usually vertical, where as three
or more are generally done horizontal.
Next decide which
photographic elements are to be included in your portrait
(backgrounds, clothing, etc) as well as amount of the
body to be transferred to paint. You can select head
and shoulders, half body or a full body pose. You also
can at this point select additional people for group
portrait. Two figures, as stated previously, can be combined
from separate photos and placed into one portrait.
You also need to determine any special requirements such
as cropping, elements to be included or excluded, color
changes to clothing, eye color, background colors or
anything not readily visible in the photo.
Choose Payment Option
We use 2Checkout.com as our primary vendor for online
orders. 2Checkout.com is an authorized retailer for DIRECT
PORTRAIT and accepts customer orders via online
checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express,
Dinners,
JCB and debit cards with the Visa and MasterCard logo.
We also accept direct bank transfers and if you choose
this option please contact us for routing information.
Choose the Final Portrait
It is imperative that as many details as possible
along with any special requests are provided with
your initial
portrait order to ensure a finished piece satisfying
you completely. We will send a digital photograph
when the portrait is ready and give a chance for
you to
accept the order or request changes or additions
to your original
order. DIRECT PORTRAIT will attempt
every change that our artists feel are possible.
We can accommodate most
changes at no additional cost to you. However, major
changes or even in drastic circumstances starting
a new canvas may incur extra costs.
Choose Shipping Method
Once you accept the work the portrait will be shipped
to you by one of two ways.
1) EMS - Free shipping - it takes around 7 to 10 business
days to arrive after you have approved the final custom
oil painting.
2 ) Fedex / UPS - Shipping cost is US$40 - Fedex or UPS
usually takes 2 - 5 business days to deliver after you have approved
your custom oil painting.

Framing
Please see a professional framer in your area. All portraits
are shipped without frame to cut down on shipping costs
as well as letting you choose the perfect frame to accent
your home and add that last personal touch.
Finished Portrait Usage
If you would like us not to use your finished portrait
or fine art painting on our web site as a sample work
of art please contact us. We are proud of all our pieces
and
wish to add your treasure to our vault of examples.
Credit Card Security
We outsource our transaction processing to a company that
specializes in secure online payments. DIRECT PORTRAIT
does not receive, store or maintain any records of any
type in regards to customer credit card numbers or even
method of payment.
